First family car I remember was dads old Austin 16, vintage 45 or thereabouts, He was a Royal Marrine sonon subsequent Malta posting we had an old Standard 8 convertible folowed by one of the first Austin Minis!
I learned in a driving school, mk 1 Escort, after a few Vespas! Bought an old Anglia Estate no seatbelts or radio, but estate car folding seats were useful for a single guy!
First new car was a tax free Fiat 128 when I was at Wildenrath, very zippy car!
Far too many cars since then!
Retired and no wish to return to work! Too busy traveling!

Kryten Personal Black Box Recording. Time: unknown. Location: unknown. Cause of accident: unknown. Perhaps if someone finds this recording it will shed light as to what happened here. My short-term memory appears to have been erased. This I ascribe to the proximity of the magnetic coils from Starbug's rear engine. (He looks around briefly) Secondly, due to the proximity of the magnetic coils, my short-term memory appears to have been erased.

Ah the MK3 Cortina I had a horrible cream and brown coloured 1.6 estate version for a while, not the usual motor for a singlie JT but it was the right price at the time. Turned like the Exxon Valdez and wallowed about on marshmallow suspension.

  6. The first family car I remember being in was a 1974 Vauxhall Firenza Droopsnoot.

It took my parents about another 30 or so years to own something even close to that cool again.

Passed my Test in a Beige Metro 998cc City X at St Athan. However I nearly wrote it off when i pulled up at the end of the test as the FS TAking me said pull over at that wall and we'll go through some questions and that should be you good to pass. I was that overjoyed I nearly went straight into the brick wall, forgetting to brake!!!!!!!!! Had a few inches to spare.
