Captain sacked from new aircraft carrier

I see the boss of the new Queen Elizabeth has been sacked for abusing his ford galaxy!

Who didn't move house back in the day using an MT van.....

It is a good rule in life never to apologise. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.

A minor offence at best.. I think there are some behind the scenes Navy politics going on here.

  3. Can you imagine a station C.O. dropping off his car at MT then walking home.

Must have put someone's nose out of joint to get snitched for this, then again he should have known better, the higher you get more people want you to fall, especially if he's just fizzed someone.

    Isnt this theft?

No doubt the vehicle would have been "fueled using MOD sources", therefore theft of fuel etc.

Lets not over-react about this - he's only been posted out of his role, he's not been 'sacked' in the traditional sense.

I you told me he'd been dishonourably discharged then yes, I'd say he'd probably he'd been treated harshly. However, it states in the story that he

"could not properly discipline his sailors after breaking the rules himself"

Sound's perfectly reasonable if you ask me. He was stupid enough to not know the rules, when he's supposed to be the one who signs off on them. Anyone below him using an MT car would know they couldn't use it for anything personal, why the hell would he think his MT car was any different??? Keeping him as the CO would have been a massive double standards issue.

Accepting the piece about not being able to discipline sailors, then hes only useful for a desk job with no subordinates.

Apart from the fact that he's quite a high rank and so by default, not particularly useful for anything other than as an administrative figurehead anyway...

I'm betting his pension won't be affected. FOMz may well be right about internal Navy politics at play here.

  10. He has been reassigned rather than fired, while this action progresses. There's no reason why his pension should be touched.
