    Apathy in the UK

I was going to post an angry thread about the news that yet another grooming gang has been uncovered in the UK, this time in Telford. Rape, sodomy, gang rape and prostitution on an industrial scale by gentlemen of a 'certain' type.

    I was going to.

However, I had an epiphany. Apart from a soon to be forgotten about story in the newspaper there is nothing but silence. No moral outrage, no protests and no mass marches on Parliament to demand that they, the police or perhaps even the social workers do their damned job of protecting children. The apathy from the great British 'sheeple' is deafening.

Perhaps it's because the news conflicted with the final of that ice dancing show or some other fatuous piece of televisual programming for people with the attention span of a low IQ goldfish. Perhaps there were drugs to take, drinks to imbibe or a new posting on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram or one of the other social platforms people need to validate their existence.

Give it a few days and no-one will even remember anything about it, like the Manchester bombing it will all be in the past and of no consequence. Life will go on, but obviously not for the children who endured such attacks.

I just want people to do the jobs they are paid to do, protect the innocent and punish the criminals. Not too much to ask is it?

A wise man said, 'Any society which does not care for its children is no nation at all'. That was Nelson Mandela speaking in 2004. How should we view the UK now?

  2. Whilst you might be right, my gut feel is that it has far more to do with the fear of attracting the racist tag.

A very, very good friend of mine AW (now retired) set up the South Yorkshire Police (SYP) Major Incident Team many years ago.

As we know South Yorkshire has an unenviable reputation for Asian gangs grooming under age white girls. He and his teams were involve in a large number of investigations into this crime but were hindered by the CPS wanting 100% certainty of the suspects being found guilty before they would consider prosecution.

The police had gathered lots of evidence including DNA evidence that put the suspects with the young girls. On many occasions they had semen evidence in the girls underwear but without the girls admitting that sex had taken place they were stymied.

The gang members said that they had masturbated into some knickers and the police could not prove otherwise. The gangs used their large families to make threats to the victims, this led to the girls clamming up in interview and the prosecutions being dropped.

The police are are in the position of the public wanting results but a system that is stacked against them. In addition we have other public services that are scared to death of upsetting the immigrant population in case of comebacks, Rotherham Council are one of those services that were afraid of reporting suspicions to the police just in case they were branded racist - the whole f˙cking lot of them should be gaoled.

Rochdale and Oldham will be next.
It's not the man in the fight - it's the fight in the man.

  4. It'll all go bang sooner of later. Without Social media it would have stayed buried forever, which is (in my opinion) why this whole "hate crime" nonsense was invented by the government and so enthusiastically adopted by the CPS. The state doesn't own SM and they are absolutely scared to death about how fast information can travel without any control - "hate crime" is a stop gap to grasp some of that control back.

Not getting all political and not pointing fingers at any party.. but it comes down to money and resources and political will.

If there was a magic money tree.. (ahem) and police, social services, Criminal justice, whoever else was fully funded, resourced etc.. and there was the will to fully tackle this head on, it could be dealt with. and any newly discovered instances could be dealt with swiftly and more efficiently.

The South Yorkshire police are doing such a good job that the NCA have had to step in.

They've also been subjected to an IPCC inquiry into their actions.

You can understand that the CPS want the cases to be watertight as we well know that the SYP always tell the truth.

I don't condone any of the actions by these child grooming gangs., but things are changing.

Well, so far as I understand it we've already had Rotherham, Rochdale, Oldham, Banbury, Oxford, Aylesbury, Bristol, Derby, Halifax, Keighley, Newcastle, Peterborough and Telford so I'm sure there will be many others yet to be found.

When I first read this thread earlier, there were no replies and I thought to myself "ah, nobody can be bothered to answer"
