    Movies v Box Sets

Just wasted another couple of hours watching Black Panther, okay film, yet again over loaded with PC messages for the snowflake generation, watched Thor the other day and felt that it was a good film but didnít flow, and god knows what that squeaky voiced rock thing was doing there, bit of the Jar Jar Binks about him.

On the other hand Iíve been watching box sets on Amazon, BBC, C4 and Netflix and to be honest Iím usually left wanting more at the end of the series.

Iím sure thereís some crap box sets, and there are some good movies, Lady Bird, Baby Driver, Three Billboards to name a few, but are the days of film supremacy coming to a close.

I read somewhere the other day that Netflix is in danger of becoming over saturated with box sets etc and not movies which is why it was created in the first place before it took Blockbuster out of the game. Myself, I'm not seeing it as I've munched through the likes of 'Black Mirror' and nearly finished 'Altered Carbon' which are fantastic, as well as some Netflix original movies like 'ARC' and 'Spectre'.

Netflix and Amazon can take a hit on a series if it does not get the viewers. The big US terrestrial channels scrap new series after a handful of episodes. The wire wouldn't have made it past season 1 if it had been commissioned by the big US terrestrial channels. Expect more shows from Netflix hbo and amazon.

Just recovered from a hernia op so for past few weeks been off and not moving too much. Got hooked on some discovery channel box sets. First off I watched about 5 series of ĎWheeler Dealers. I eventually got fed up of the fact he kept saying heís made money on a car when no Labour was applied to the outgoings!

Then I found ĎGoldrushí. I found that as long as you fast forward anytime Todd Hoffman talks or prays and basically keep fast forwarding u TIL they clean out the boxes and weigh the gold itís quite compelling telly!

Ever since I watched Breaking Bad box sets trump films all day!

Enjoyed quite a few box sets recently - The Originals, The Strain, Black Sails, all good in my opinion. Tried to watch 'Wonder Woman' on Sky last week, got bored half way through and turned it off. Same for 'Logan', which wasn't really a bad film, it just didn't hold my attention.

  6. I've got a monthly pass for cine World go twice a week to the movies to get my monies worth. Lol. Watch a lot of crud but when you see a good film then that balances it out. Darkest hour, 3 billboards and shape of water. The greatest showman passed a couple of hours on boxing day.

Box sets on the large are better than most movies, the extra time allowed to tell stories and develop characters gives a real chance for the audience to become invested in whats going on.

Most movies nowdays tend to be re-hashes of stories already told or yet another superhero movie.
