iPhone X, would you buy one.

So to get the one that's worth having you have got to spend 1150.

Now this isn't a small specialist phone like Vertu tried, and failed, to sell, this needs to sell in the millions to be worthwhile.

Personally I like iPhones and such like, work give me one and I have one for personal use, but I tend to buy the one that's a couple of years out of date, for instance I bought my new 6 plus earlier this year for half the launch price, phones are so good these days I'll be keeping this for at least another 18 months before upgrading to another old model.

So if you're a smart phone user, Nokia 3120 owners hold off please, what would make you splash over 1k on a fragile iphone.

Setting aside that I am a Luddite of the highest order (I don't even have broadband or wifi at home), there is no way i would pay 1150 for a device I would only use for making the odd telephone call and sending the odd text message....especially given that its likely in 2 years time it would be replaced by the iPhone XI.........

Kryten: 39436175880932/B? All nations attending the conference are only allocated one car parking space? Is that entirely relevant, sir? I mean, here we are in mortal danger and you're worried about the Chinese delegates bringing two cars.

Spend upwards of 1k on a phone, are you serious?!!! I think I'll keep my wee Motorola flip phone thanks. It might be almost 10 years old but I can use it for texting, outgoing and incoming calls and that's all I need.

Okay so we'll park those comments with those of my dad who turns off his phone most of the time, won't switch on data and unplugs everything at night. So smartphone users what would make you splash this cash on a phone.

It would have to be a 'phone for life' sort of deal to make me spunk 1K on it (free replacements forever, etc), and even then I'd probably be REALLY unlikely to actually do it. I do like my smart phone, as I usually use it more for web surfing than phoning people. I used to have an iPhone, but chinned it off for a Sony last year when my contract ended, and TBH I don't think the last few smart phones to come out from the market leaders have brought anything ground-breaking enough to warrant the prices they're asking for them, let alone a 1K price tag.

    Simply - no.

Too many toys and no solid improvements to useability - keep your face recognition (that doesn't work - see this) and all that cr@p, give me a useable battery life (in days, not hours), user upgradable storage (like Android already does) and a screen that won't crack when you sneeze on it and then I might be impressed.

I'll stick with my Samsung ta.

Short answer no. 1000+ for a phone not a hope in hell I've paid less for motors. No doubt it will be replaced by the Apple super whizzy phone Mk1 next year and the Mk 2 extra whizzy the year after, in aqua blue probably, and will be best used to score points in the pub game of whose got the latest, whizziest, blingtastic phone. As a phone it won't make conversations any more interesting than they are now, text messages won't be read differently, the BBC news will still be the BBC news Whatsapp photos will still arrive. 1000+ for that no thanks.
