    forces numbers

I heard that the forces are having trouble recruiting people, think you might find this interestng

In 1959, the number of recruits on long-term engagements was 45,000.
This compares with 47,000 in 1958, which was an exceptionally good year.
If the 1959 rate continues, the strength of the forces will be a little under
400,000 at the beginning of 1963.

    What happened?
