Tried the GUI version, everything was fine until I tried to run 3DMark05 just to see how it would affect framerates. Wouldn't run, some D3D.dll not found b0ll0x.

Quick hunt through the wiki and FAQ shows that it doesn't allow any other OpenGL sessions

No-Nonsense client works a treat. If you don't want the window sitting in your taskbar while it runs then set it to run as a service. The only problem is that it then disappears completely, so, if like me you want to know how your progress is, you can dowload a 3rd party add-in.

I recommend FoldingFromTray. It's free and easy to use. Download it from here and then just drop it into your Folding@Home folder. When you run it, it opens a window with progress info and easy access to the log file. You can download a small piccy of your protein if you want too.

It closes to the System Tray if want quick access or you can exit completely. For those of you running multiple sessions on dual/quad core processors, you can select which session you want to view info from too.
If you look in the folder where you've initially placed the no-nonsense version, it should have created 2 text documents, unitinfo and FAHlog.
Unitinfo tells you how your current work unit is coming along and FAHlog tells you everything else you need to know, from the size of the unit to how long it takes each step to complete.
If you add a shortcut to them on the desktop you don't have to worry about getting to the folder whenever you want know how your unit is going, and again it saves having extra stuff cluttering up your system tray.

it might be worth getting the side or top off your case and vacuuming the dust off the heatsinks and fans.[/QUOTE]

Hells teeth S,S dont hover your computer, it can bu**er it right up. Best thing to do is a small paint brush(new) and a can of compressed air to clean it

I've done it on several occasions and never had any adverse effects. Only lower temps and higher overclocks. I can understand your concern with static but it is also recommended that people wear a grounding strap when handling components and I've never seen that happen.

Ok, I'm gonna try again when I get back from det.

Finished a Work Unit, but it crashed just before upload. Opened it up again, and it told me it was starting number 2.

Sweet I thought, until it bloody crashed! File I/O error....

Look on the site, my WU never made it to Standford either!

    bugger!

Fcuk me Tashy_Man! 4 Units already, how far have you clocked your 3200 for that?

The home PC (A64 3700 1 gig ram) is on for at least 4 hours a day and I've only managed 35% of my first one in 3 days.

Not overclocked this CPU at all (the kids comp has an Athlon 2800 overclocked to 3200).....you hit the nail on the head though...TIME......the main comp (which is running folding@home) is on 24 hours a day....found i have less problems with it if left on constantly rather than shutting down everyday.

    Fold on .......

TLS, Thanks for the FoldingFromTray link... turns out it kept crashing because the no nonsense version was running as a service, and I told it to launch the thing at startup.... hence it went wibble and crashed!!!

Nevermind, lost 3 days and 1 WU entirely, but at 29% now for this one
