It is with deep regret that we at E-Goat have to inform you of the passing of one of the original E-Goat members Granville Marriot (Gem).
An old school liney plumber, and a real gent that would go out of his way to help someone if he could. With Gran, what you saw is what you got. He loved harsh banter and revelled in a good natured crew room argument. Maybe this is why he loved to wear pink shirts, which he would refer to as ‘Salmon’ to get the harsh banter flowing at social gatherings.
Some of you may be unaware of the charity work Gem did behind the scenes with Troop Aid, Defence Medical Welfare Services at Selly Oak Hospital and for Combat Stress, as well as assisting with SSAFA where he could. Without his help and assistance, a lot of our previous charity work would never have got off the ground and we and the others he helped thank him for that.
He lived and breathed service life and was a regular at the RAF Armourers Association meetings.
A Husband, Father and Grandfather, he will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Tonight, he will no doubt be doing what he has threatened to do for years and take Saint Barbara out for a beer or five.
