Under the circumstances, you have to say that sacking is a bit harsh. He did break a rule, so reprimand him, dont sack him......... or isnt this the first time?

Ultimately he is responsible for the safety of the aircraft. he is expected to use his experience and judgement in every other area of the flight. As in Panavia Tornado ZA376 of 20 Sqn on 10 May 1991. Crashed near Lubberstedt, Germany on training mission. Reason - Alleged loss of control. Cause - Aircrew Error. Pilot - Sqn Ldr Pablo Mason. Nav - Flt Lt R** W****.
