To think the press were writing off the Northern Hemisphere in this world cup. Well done France, now I'm really looking forward to next weekend. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

France must now be favourites. However I feel England will relish the chance..

South Africa will have something to say about where the Cup goes I think.

Of the 5 World Cups to date on 2 have been won by the country hosting the Tournament and 3 by another country.

True, but I think the French will be up for it, if they get through to the final.
They are definatly favourities against England (that was the orignal meaning of my statement)

In 2 finals, the host were in the Final but were beaten by the favourites (only just mind, 6-12 and 17-20) and the other host was never seriously going to win it anyway....
South Africa have had smooth shaves this world cup, England didn't bother to turn up against them in the 36-0.
Interesting through will be Argentina as well, if they beat Scotland..

England go into it with the same attitude to the time they beat Austrailia today and that time in 1991, then maybe they will win. But they will not be favourities. We haven't beat France at Paris since winning the RWC.

I agree that the French will be the favourites for next Saturday, England will have to play like they did today if they want to progress.

True, though it would be a good time to change that, keeping the same starting 15 as this afternoon would be a good start in my view.

Every time you don't buck the odds simply moves you one step nearer to when you do!

Ok, I'm stuck at LAX with a kiwi colleague who's bitchin' like a gooden that the English ref was sh!te. At least, that is the review he's just got from an NZ website. Neither of us saw the game so can anyone confirm whether he has a point?

He made a couple of dodgy decisions; the sin binning was a bit harsh perhaps and there was a marginally forward pass in one of the French tries. The AB’s were whinging a lot because he was pinging them for offside at the rucks, but they were so can’t really complain too much. He wasn’t that bad, the AB’s are just used to getting the decisions their own way.
Sat and watched the game in a bar for breakfast, and all the Kiwis can do is moan about the ref...The "sin-binning" was harsh but I think it was about even apart from that...
Only Englishman in a bar full of Aussies and Kiwis; that was interesting!!!

It was a cracking game. Hopefully the French have wrecked themselves physically with all that defensive work (mind you, there where more NZ players leaving the field limping during the game) and if England can turn up again and put another monster performance in its still doable.

Just had a look at one of the bookies odds on the remaining teams and England are still the outsiders in their eyes to win outright!

France 13/8
Argentina 13/2
England 15/2
