I've got to take the wife to hospital for our 12 week scan next week and I was wondering if I can claim mileage? Many thanks folks.
If you are serving on the UK mainland and your wife is a civvie then the answer would be no. She pays like the rest of the civilian population-don't forget to take Hospital car park money with you too!
You can claim if she is on Benefits I believe.

You cant claim from the RAF, however, depending how far you have to travel to the hospital, you may be able to make a claim from the hospital. When I travel to Aberdeen for an appointment, I can claim some cash back for the drive due to the fact I have to travel so far, and the local hospital in Elgin doesnt provide the service.

I have recently had a few appointments in Aberdeen Hospital but MT told me they would take me, if i wanted my husband (also RAF) to accomany me we would have to make our own way there and not be able to claim!!

On IPMC at Shrivenham just now, I will let you know when I get back.
Oh, you can claim retrospectively too. You need your appt cards tho if I remember correctly.

Ok. If you are travelling from Forres/Kinloss definately, Elgin/Lossie maybe you can claim for your mileage to reach an appointment in Aberdeen.
Just go to the General Office on the day of the appointment, MrsMetimmee thinks retrospective claims arent possible. Ask to claim mileage expenses and produce your appointment card. You will need the doctors details for the patient that is having the appointment.
You will have £10 deducted but if I remember correctly we received about £13. If you are on income support/benefits , they dont deduct the £10.
