Well the Welsh World cup day of reckoning has arrived, thankfully Larkham is crooked and we are playing in our own back yard, does anybody think we can turn the Aussies over ?

Seeing as my score predictions are normally way out I'm going to try some reverse physiology on myself.....

My prediction Wales 18 Aus 26

Any other takers ?

Wales 24 - 22 Australia.

It ain't gonna be easy but we have to go out there with confidence. Recent history is on our side and we have home advantage.

Berrick Barnes is playing well, think this could get nasty for Wales in the second half.

But current form says that you are as sh*te as England.

Backed up by the half time score.

Your losing by more that we were and you are at HOME!!!:PDT_Xtremez_31: :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Well done. You played like you were at home in the second half.

NO Home nation side will progress past the QF's

That includes Wales...........

As for England, I do not care if Samoa beat us as that side needs a good reason to be cleared of the dead wood.

There wont be many true England fans that agree with that comment.

I'm being a realist. England will get a good trashing again, if they played Austrailia. It would be no surprize if Samoa would turn them over at the moment.

Apart from the weak Wales side that was put up against them and the USA, they have not looked like scoring a try!!

There is absolutly no confidence in the England team and nobody seems willing to LEAD!!

Just the usual from our English friends, if England cant do well no-one else is allowed to either.

In the second half Wales played like they had a pair. This is better than playing a whole game like a binch of fannies like England did the other night is it not?

Lets face it England are sh1te just now, give then 2 years and they will be on form again, but as usual its the here and now of the part time fan and those wan**ers in the press that wants everything now.

I would love to see Wales, Scotland and Ireland do well as England against the southern boys..... Just that it ain't going to happen this time......

Before today's game I would have agreed with you. We learned a lot of lessons today which we can consolidate against Japan, which is always a training match, bless 'em. If we can put up a strong performance against Fiji then we might just be where we need to be when we face the Boks.

OK so it's a million-to-one chance but history proves that million-to-one chances come good nine times out of ten. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

I am wondering what sort of condition Fiji will be in on the 29th against us, as they would have played Australia on the 23rd!

I can't believe I'm agreeing with GT! I'm not going to make excuses for England, they were desperately poor, however, BA was left with a crock of cr@p! Added to the fact that there is little doubt Rob Andrew has put his 2 pennethworth in and we were never going to retain the cup. Why this world cup wasn't used a tooth cutting excersise is beyond me, IMHO we should have gone there with a young, fresh group of players who were still in love with the game and not a bunch of grizzled old vets. BA should have stood upto the press and said "We're not going to retain the world cup but give us time and we'll do it in 2011" There would have been uproar for a couple of days and then the message would have sunk in. We also need to stop listening to the Southern hemisphere countries and the rest of the so called knowledgeable critics, England never have and never will excel at playing open rugby, we play hard, tight forward orientated rugby. Lets forget all the fancy rugby and get back to basics, having a pack capable of smashing anyone in world rugby!

Wales did well to get themselves back into the game after the break, but they couldn't take advantage of playing against 14 players and to be fair never really looked in the same class as Australia. At the moment I think they are playing the best rugby out of all the northern hemisphere sides, unfortunately that's not saying much at the moment.

I agree that England have never, and most likely will never produce a side that plays 'open rugby' as well as some sides, but we have produced sides that play 15 man rugby as well as anyone. The 2003 world cup winning side played a very controlled format in the actual tournament, but was able to create the space to score out wide when the chips were down. Prior to the actual 2003 world cup, England toured the southern hemisphere and played some of the best 15 man rugby I've seen an England side ever play, they bulldozed the all blacks up front and won a close fought victory 15 - 13, then went to Australia and outscored the wallabies 3 tries to 1 in a 25 - 14 victory that even had the Aussie press taking us seriously. My point is (eventually) great sides are built over time (there were calls for Woodward to be sacked after the 1999 world cup), Ashton has to be given the chance to build his own squad, if he's given that chance I hope he looks to the future and doesn't worry to much about this years 6 nations.
