I'll be there Friday night.
The lovely 12hour duty rule at ISL means that I have to do the drive in one go!!!

Not really.
Just told to remember that it's all about having the right attitude.
A couple of tips guys;
1, read the accom poster it will let you know who is duty man/woman on the Sunday parade…
2, Don’t wear Mr Men socks, like a tw@t did on my course… oh the joy of seeing the Rock IC frizz…lol
3, Enjoy, it’s actually quiet good fun…
All the best

After reading your thread on bulled shoes, it is no suprise to see that it is your JMLC. Be careful if you are planning on taking painted shoes. Theres nothing worse than getting rifted in front of all your fellow JNCO's to be.

Mono's ''leaders'' told them all to stay away from the rose and crown as its still a sh!t hole, LOL. I believe the words used were ''The smoking ban came in a few months back, you can still smell smoke and your feet still stick to the carpet!'' Mono's course have stuck to the families bar, LOL :PDT_Xtremez_30:

It's only 10hrs by road, so that fits in nicely with the rules. (that was the official line)
The alternative was transit accommodation at somewhere along the way, unfortunately nothing available so it's a one-stopper for me!!
Can't you tell I'm thrilled at the thought??:PDT_Xtremez_21:

Rosie is a sh1t hole and is usually refered to as the Rose and Naafi.
Then you ahve the Pack Horse on the way down to W'dover bit of a 'locals' pub but good real ale.
The George has turned into a restaurant
The Red Lion is a bit pricey but good beer again
I think the Swan and Brewers is still going and you have the shoulder of Mutton and the King and Queen.
Three Indian Restaurants a Chinese Take away at the bottom of the hill
Khyber Pass Kebab van and of course PEGS:PDT_Xtremez_15:
There is a Tescos express about 15 minutes walk from camp on the way to wendover as the Naafi in the Chiltern Club is absolutely w@nk it has most of the basics.
Taxi into Aylesbury about £15
No cash point on camp anymore (except for recruits) Naafi does cash back (funds allowing) or cas point at the tesco or in the village.
Anything else:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Is there any need for "formal" wear on the course?
Doesn't say so in the JI's, but thought I'd ask those in the know

Course 965 done, well, in my final days...
If you got anything to make your camping excursion comfy, take it with, you'll have a night under canvas.
Other than that, go in with an open mind. It's the best course I've ever done in the RAF, and don't forget to go get shedded with your syndicate. It's the best way to get to know people.

Are we talking about roll-mats or do they give you camp beds?

You get the yank style camp cots, Rat packs (Yorkies with "Not for civvies" on em were class), hexi burners, etc etc....
Roll mat would be good if you want to take the summer bag, cos you get a draft from below on them f*ckers!
Ohhhh and if your getting new boots, break em in good and proper or you'll be blistered to the 9's by the time of the excercise!!!

10 hrs by road if you dont take a break every two hours which you are required to do - even if you have a passenger that is sharing the drive. Unless they have changed the rules of course.

Thanks for the gen, Mono.
That saves me having to bring my camp-cot. One less thing to carry!
The Yorkies are great- the ATC cadets we had over the summer thought they were so good, they kept them to take home. I'm expecting a flood of them on EBay as we speak!!
Looking forward to getting out of the bay and out in the fresh air for a while.

Message from Monobrow (who is on JMLC at the mo)..........
There is a discrepancy in the joining instructions. The work based assignment, DO IT BEFORE YOU GET TO HALTON. Some did and some didnt and those that didnt have had far more work then those that did. Less work = more drinking time!

Rose & Naafi now as expensive as Red Lion ............ What is that all about!!!!!
Pack Horse & Swan are Local pubs for Local peoples
I would avoid the Indian next to Tescos 'cause food not great and we was ripped off (In my opinion).
The Prince of India good but Raj better if you fancy a Ruby
Chinese next to the vets (How Suss is that) is not too bad either
If not there is always Pegs or the Van Of Death

Always pitch up at least 10 minutes prior to any task, class, bollocking, etc. Make sure your 'pen-picture' (which we had to do prior to arriving) is at least as long as it ays it should be - make sure your homework is done properly and FFS make sure all your kit is spankin'!!! I turned up with everything new execpt my belt (although it had a v shiny buckle) and the WO went ape & told me to gerrit changed cos it was faded!
Don't f*ck about when you're doing your 'leads' either; be firm & make yourslf heard & try not to be first up for the 'lead' role as, inevitably, nobody's got a scooby at this stage & the first up will be the one who gets EVERYTHING wrong, lol! Also, when it comes to attitude, be yourself, but again, FFS don't back-chat, don't get clever with the syndicate leaders and just stay cool, however wound up you might get. You'll see the lads with bad attitudes, as they stick out a mile (and those that stick out once too often tend to 'disappear' before they graduate...)
Bottom line, enjoy! It's a great course (well, it was 5 years ago). Take it seriously, but not too personally.
Good luck to all!

Totally agree with the 10 mins before anything then you're always on time, there used to be a Sgt there who would always look out the window when you were formed up outside but at ease to see if he could find any reason whatsoever to shout at the whole course and big himself up when he wasn't in charge of a syndicate, toe the company line for a couple of weeks and enjoy it...
Oh yeah and don't ask people to do things when you ahve the lead, as in "could you grab one of those poles and bring it here please" as they will step in and try to put you down or will have already briefed your syndicate to just say "NO" when asked and not told what to do. So if you say "Go and get that pole and bring it over here" they should do it and if anyone has a problem with that then sort it out over a pint later, we had a lad put on our syndicate on the Friday of week 1 after he got binned from his own course & the exercise in week 2 because he couldn't stop being polite and asking if you wouldn't mind doing this or that, we had a chat in the bar on the evening and said "look mate just tell us what to do don't ask us, and if we take offence at your tone/manner we'll chat about it over a beer" 1 week later I'm pleased to say he passed the course with us and is now out there somewhere probably asking people if they wouldn't mind doing things for him, and before anyone has a go I know being polite costs nothing and it's they way we all get along in the real world but this it ACS @ Halton and they don't do politeness....
Get some green fabric tape from stores to tape down all the loose bits on your webbing, and put your name on your webbing/rucksack (makes it alot easier to find when 40+ people throw it all in a pile to form up)
Enjoy mate and congrats on the tapes
rugby then work

Wonky tonka you are entitled to fly down for the course, I did from Lossie! Also as a bonus slazyjet cant guarantee excess baggage you require. So its off to BA we go with the perks of the business lounge.
I found that far more relaxing than a drive.
Also if you are down there Sun 16th Sep or Mon 17th I'll see you in the bar

Wasn't actually that bad............or maybe I've just been brainwashed??
There was the usual faff and plenty of military waiting, but none of the bulls**t that I would have expected from halton.

By the way, can I play with the Jags for 5 weeks as I don't want to go back to CMU.
