Reading the report it looks like some one complained about the flags and the council were forced to act…

Mind you, how can Derby County Football Club be classed as advertising??
Now if it was a McDonalds magic arches flag I’d understand…

But at least he has class flags to replace them with…
Bet they will go down well in Derby

Thing is the council shouldn't be forced to act, common sense should prevail here.

Of course you know what will happen next, with the St G and Union flag flying he will be ordered to take them down as it will be deemed offensive to minorities. Off to fly me St Piran flag now.

Been there for a few weeks now haven't they. I thought it was a build up for the Rugby world cup or the Euro qualifiers.

I asked in the George and they said that the flags were originally put up for Trafalgar day in 2005 and have been left up out of laziness!

As I am at a Joint Unit I have an RAF ensign on display in the front of my house, if someone complains I would tell them to poke off!

Scre@ the minorities this is our country and we should be able to put up whatever flags we like.
Simple..... if they dont like it the airports and ports are not too far to travel to so they should head in that direction.

Could you imagine if we told the Iraqis or any other nation what to do in their country? There would be hell to pay.
We need a government with a back bone to stand upto these so called do gooders who say we may offend people.
Most of the people who I know personally from places like Jamaica, Hungary, Turkey. All say that theya re not offended so what is the problem?
As stated its a minority that may be offended so feck em.

I doubt they're actually offended. But because they know they can take advantage of the system (i.e. sue sue sue for lots of money!) they will take whatever they possibly can. We need courts that are stiffer to get rid of the sue society that's plaguing us right now. Then the PC rubbish may reduce considerably as people will not be worried about being sued then!

.

Down here is Southampton last year, somebody in the PC brigade thought they would speak on behalf of the Sikh community here. They told the local rag that Sikhs would be offended by a local pub in the area flying a Union Jack.

The PC brigade got an awful backlash from the Sikhs who said they were proud to be British, none were too happy with their comments and trying to speak on their behalf!.

How wonderful! I remember Odiham village well from my first posting in 67. My grandfather's first posting in WWII as well. The village was always a sleepy little place and wonderful people. Is the little pub still at the bottom of the hill coming from the camp? Had many a happy night in there with curly cheese butties and a pint at 10d (4p today).

I am not surprised that the Sikh community spoke out against their 'protection from the insensitive English' as they are indeed a strong minded community who have had unswerving loyality to the British for hundreds of years. Besides the Gurkhas, I would trust my life with a Sikh any day. They are a great bunch of people.

Yes, indeed the Crown is soon to re-open (assumption made on beer wagon parked outside!) not sure of when, but it will no doubt be the usual overspill for the boys and girls who fancy an expensive drink in a dross pub! My opinion is that only because last time I was in their enjoying a few quiet ones, some pikeys were on the pool table fighting and wrapping cues round each others heads. Won't be rushing there on opening night
