Could someone in the know describe the differences between the usual NHS route and that if you joined up for RAF service. If you go the specialist route rather than G.D/G.P. are you routinely pulled for tours every 12 - 18 months or is this largely voluntary. What are the opportunities for SAR/CSAR - are they few and far between?

Any information would be valunble as the careers service just keep sending me a general brochure.

You may want to contact the Medical and Dental Liaison Officer (MDLO) who recruits Medics and Fang farriers to the fold.

Dolphin - keep on swimming.

If you joined through the RAF route, you will get sponsored through medical school AND get a nice fat 'golden hello' (Loadsa Munny!).

You will get antidated seniority and quick promotion.

You will also get buggered around from Anus to Morning repast by people who are professional at it, and spend more time brushing sand out of your toes than you thought possible - and its not sand from a beach in the south of France.
