Just read THIS (http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/23072007/58/season-2008-turkish-gp-dropped.html) on the Yahoo MotoGP site. It seems the Turkish GP is being dropped from the calendar for 2008 despite being popular with the riders and creating some great racing. Why...... so the fookin Americans can have TWO GP's. As if their world champion rider is going to make some great come back, he couldn't even beat his own brother on sunday let alone Rossi, Pedrosa or Stoner.
Good news for Melandri though as he will get to partner Stoner on a Bologna bullet, quite where that leaves Loris is anyone's guess. With Bridget and the kids may be one option, time will tell.

We are losing a bloody good track so the fookin Americans can have ANOTHER GP. They have been nowhere to be seen since Wayne Rainey had his accident, they ignored Hayden and his buddies when they came from WSB crowing about how they would teach Valentino how to ride a bike only to slink away with their tails between their legs when THEY recieved the lesson and even guys like Shinya Nakano and Carlos Checa beat them ! It just pi$$es me off. :PDT_Xtremez_25:
Don't know about the icon, but it's cool !!
To be fair, while the Spaniards have more than one (whatever label they put on it !) the precedence has been set. However, I agree that the Turk GP should not have been dropped, although to be honest, I was more aggrieved when Spa-Fracorchamps was dropped. Last weekend of June/first weekend of July for the Dutch and Belgium was a bloody good holiday.
As for Spam Riders, I think they peaked with King Kenny followed by God (Fast Freddie), however that is just my opinion.

For the last 20 years or so, the best riders have come form Australia (Doohan / Gardner) and Europe (The rest) Nicky Hayden has one lucky year and it's look at us, look at us !..... Oh sod off ! Troy Bayliss didn't get a podium till Ducati fired him for repeatedly dumping his bike in the gravel Edwards, Vermuelen and Hopkins are proving to be quality though.
Digger Gardner, top racer and a damn nice fella too.
Bloody Crims, if its a sport, they are determined to rule it....
Do like watching Edwards though, reminds me of Eddie Lawson... turns up and does the job then goes home.

Was it Pierre francesco Chilli that Gardner nearly killed back in the 80's ?
I remember him coming out of a bend and seeing the guy on his hands and knees on the track, tjhen his fairing caught his head and spun him round. I heard that Gardner didn't know if he was alive or not until after the race. I often wonder if that wasn't the beginning of the end for him in MotoGP, he was never as aggressive after that incident.
They'll neverr rule the world of Football as long as they keep calling it soccer !
Until the new owner decides to take Liverpool to New york :PDT_Xtremez_17:
Believe it may have been Franco Uncini, the year the Italian was World Champion and was wearing the No 1 plate (Good old days, yellow race plates...) It was at the Dutch TT, I was in the stands at the slight right left on the Start/Finish straight and it was at the right hander at the far end of that bit if track. As you say, he was down on the track and Digger went through him. Certainly the end of Uncini's great racing days. Musta shook Digger up.

After seeing that I thought he was done for at the time.
I think Gardners last act was Suzuka in the rain, riding with a pinned together leg when he slid between the bales and rebroke it in the same place. A great rider in his day to be sure. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

The thing is america is bigger than europe and look how many races are in europe, granted in separte countries. Plus its a big market for the bike companies.
The thing that is bad is they are going to indie, no doubt running the F1 track, maybe in reverse. That track is rubbish. No doubt Laguna is the best road track in the states, but they have a few others Infineon, or Barber motorsport park. Indie NO. As for dropping the turkish one, NO. good track, good racing, spain has 3 GP's drop one of them.

I'd agree, but not Catalunya, IMHO the second best curcuit after Mugello, TBH I'd rather not see Jerez go either. Which leaves Valencia, but In all honesty, I'd rather see Sepang go before Valencia !
If the yanks wanted to have another GP, they should have been forced into taking all 3 classes first. The main thing I have against Laguna Seca is they only host MotoGP. They should be made to host 125 and 250 before they get another race.
How about Watkins Glen ? It's been years since I watched a race from there, so I can't remember if it has steep banking at the side of the track.
I think in all fairness I should point out that, while the Spams get 2 MotoGPs next year, this year the UK had 3 rounds of WSBK. There is a lot of interest at the grass roots level in bike racing and anything to divert them from Nascrap has to be a good thing.

I didn't realise Laguna was only Motogp! Every other class seems to follow at the other circuits which makes for a larger overall attendance during the practice/races. Will be interesting to see how Melandri performs on the Ducati, it would be nice to think that he will go in as an equal with Stoner, but with Stoner performing as he is, it may be doubtful.
Think Rossi needs a change of team or a serious improvement in bike.

WSB, you might as well go to a track day, or stand on a motorway bridge. MotoGP is the premier league of racing mate The Americans have a LUCKY world champion in mr Hayden he rode well last year but failed to repeat his winning ways.
