View Full Version : Well done Asda!
The Publishers of the new Harry Potter book have cancelled a 500,000 book order for Asda stores.
Bloomsbury cited the reason was "invoicing issues". However Asda who are known for their rock bottom prices on books have criticised the book's price tag of £17.99.
Asda have said :
"It just seems funny that after we expose the potty Potter price hike, Bloomsbury are trying everything they can to stop kids getting hold of Harry Potter at a price they can afford."
Im no Potter fan, but a book marketed at Kids and the price tag of £17.99!
I agree with Asda's comments.

Yeah. F*ck bloomsbury.
Like you say, a kids book. Being released at that price.
Mind you I've always had an issue with first edition hardbacks. When a book is released, all you can get is the hardback, usually at £18.
The softback is released 6 months later at 7 or 8 quid.
So, what, the hard cover cost £10 to produce did it? Boll0cks. Release the two together and give people a choice, you cash hoovering b*stards. ::P:

18 quid for a kids book! What a load of b0ll0cks! My missus loves the potter books, but she has a job and can therefor afford the price-tag. I agree with you MM, and good on Asda!!

Yep ordered for Mrs Fold ages ago but still dont agree with the 18quid price tag yet another marketing rob dog ploy as kids will be screaming for it and parents will pay the price. But good on ASDA

Like everyone says, good on Asda.
Having said that, I find the Potter phenomenon a bit wearing now; yes, it was great that Rowling got kids into books again, but it's hardly Dostoyevsky, is it?
There are plenty of other children's authors worthy of mention but not with the hype.
If I hear any more about how JK burst into tears after finishing the last book, I'll kick her back doors in....
