E-goat was born on the 10th September 2005. It was set up as a series of public forums to build a community in which RAF personnel both past and present, and visitors from all 3 services could chat about a range of subjects. (Apart from Security related issues).
The name e-goat came about because of the local rag called "The Orbiting Goat" on the section the founding members of e-goat worked at. When the aircraft came into service in 1999 (Big Hint) there was a spoof pulled on the aircraft manufacturers involving a goat which is where the name originated from. When Bitburger and I came up with the idea to provide the RAF with a site similar to ARRSE it was only fair that we called the forum we set up "The e-goat" as it was catchy and non-raffy.
It contains military and civil news and current affairs, sports, adventure training, Squadrons and Stations, military humour, lots of banter, chat and the 'Pigs Bar' for the sickos that are about in all military forces. It also has a variety of other forums to meet community demands including trade specific forums to chat amongst fellow trademen/women.
The e-goat is free and is financially supported via community donations.
E-goat is an unofficial community website which is in no way linked to the Ministry of Defence or any UK military organisation.
