OOA Question

Ay up,

Quick question for you adminers! Under the old rules, if you were both serving and one went ooa for 4 months, you were entitled to 2 warrants for your spouse whilst you were away and also your spouse was entitled to 10 working days off on your return.

Under JPA, do these entitlements still exist?? If so, can you point me in the right jsp/acp publication and/or give me the ref for it?

The concessionary travel for families definitely still exists, but it's only one warrant for a 4 month tour (that changed before JPA). I suspect the compassionate leave when your spouse returns from OOA is also still there. It will be in JSP 760 somewhere. I think there's a link on http://www.army.mod.uk/

It used to be 2 warrants for a 4-monther, but that changed years ago. I can't remember exactly when, but it was sometime between 2000 (my first OOA) and 2006 (my most recent).

Sorry to disagree with you guys, but anybody based in the UK who is detached for 4 months or over gets 2 return trips within the the UK for their dependents to visit the parents, parents in law or NOK. The only change made to entiltlements was made for personnel based overseas who are now only entitled to 1 trip to the UK at public expense. It came down to your spouse saving up their leave (if serving) and ensuring that their line manager had OK'd a leave pass for the appropriate period.

Yep, if you or she uses your own car, you/she gets a refund based on the distance travelled door to door at the Leave Travel Rate. Should be to either the outlaws, family or nominated close friend. This is usually when everyone in South of England decides they want to visit their friends at ISK or vice-versa!:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Having had the joy of reading JSP 760 whilst designing the Absence lesson of the TG17 HR JPA course held at SP (that may give me away to some of you!) I can 100% guarantee there is no type of leave that you describe. However, it may of changed since I was rewarded with a posting to SHAPE in April 07!

However historically (AP 3392 Vol 2 - obviously) if both partners were serving one could apply for upto 28 days unpaid leave upon the others return from OOA. Now knowing that really does show my age!
