Not sure about right forum mods please move if needs be.
I have a samsung telly with built in freeview, my question is does anybody know how to tape stuff of it???!!!! I have tried to tape programmes but as soon as the T.V is switched off all I record is a blue screen. Should I buy a DVD recorder and bin my steam powered video (its a vhs not betamax!). I have also tried various different connections scart leads etc not sure how to configure them. Oh yes please be aware I am a complete techno biff so dont be too technical thanks!

What is the model number?
Erm yeah that would have been a good idea to put that on....unfortunately I'm at work at the moment I will post model number when I get home!

You can not tape on it because your TV is Freeview(Digital) and your VCR is analog so when you switch off the TV/Digital/Freeview you are in effect switching off the Digital Signal.
Your VCR has an Analog tuner built inside it that is how it records analog TV programs - BBC 1,2, ITV, Chan 4 and 5.
If you want to record go out and get yourself a Freeview Box with a Hard drive built in - you can pick them up for about £80, pause live TV, record etc etc

Ah I see your problem here, it's commonly known as female/technology interface, i.e. you. Now being a lass you were not put on the earth to understand complicated things like tv, video etc. You were put here to wait hand and foot on the males of this earth.
Your only solution is to get a man in to do it for you.

It's like switching off your sky box, and the telly, then wondering why the sky box isn't putting a signal to the video...
Just turn the volume + brightness down, then it'll look off, but record ::D:
