I have heard a rumour that RAF, as we know it, will become a thing of the past and only referred to in history books.
The Army will reconstitute the Royal Flying Corps (RFC), basically so long RAF.
No more blue serge, CS95 instead, no more stns, camps instead.
The reasoning behind this is: The successes already enjoyed by both Joint NBC Regt and 5 (AC) Sqn have set the powers that be thinking.
To that end the Royal Artillery UAV Batteries will probably move to Waddington Barracks and colocate Phoenix, Watchkeeper and the soon to appear Predator.
Also, with Typhoon being the last manned frontline a/c the RAF will be procuring, it will be prudent to re-role the Army Air Corps to both rotary and Unmanned Aerial Fighter (UAF).
The RFC would be keeping Harrier, GR4A and F3 until they reach their expiry date. Cranwell would remain the centre of excellence by becoming the HQ for all 4 cadet forces (ACF, RNCF, CCF and ATC).
I could list the whole reshuffle but the forums are not big enough.
To reinforce this rumour, I have seen the paperwork, all be it draft ready to submit to CGS,CNS and CAS then delivered by CDS to Minister level.
Bring back 1918
And its not even the April 1st yet

Best they get recruiting then. I don't think many of us would consider changing sides.
Being part of JHC is bad enough, full time? No thanks.
What paper do you work for anyway?

Nice try numb nuts. I reckon you need to do some homework before you try winding people up. Typhoon last manned a/c the RAF will be procurring? Hmmm interesting, never heard of JSF then.
I've worked with the AAC I wouldn't trust those retards with a meccano kit let alone Harriers and Tonkas. Along those lines do you honestly think their lordships who hold the pursestrings would let of the Army lads anywhere near a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle.)
Tell you what son you do your job, i.e. pointing things that go bang at baddies and leave the technical stuff to us.

So who cares about the cadets hq, sweet FA to do with us mate. Most air cadets join the Army, if they join up at all.
Try starting in the introductions thread and maybe you'll have a warmer reception !

Not all people, just the ones whose first posts are blatant fishing b0ll0x.
You didn't answer my question. Which paper are you from? Of course, the other option is that you have come over from AARSE and are hoping to score points over there by "crab baiting".
Either way, you have so far deserved the abuse (mild as it is).

ARRSE it is, but I'm not hoping to score points. Not my intention at all. Seeing as you mention it though, a few of you did take the hook. Just friendly inter-service banter.

Fair enough.
What would happen if I registered on ARRSE, started with a slightly smug thread about insider knowledge of a few Regiments being disbanded (or possibly the AAC being amalgamated into the RAF), and had a dig at the pongos in my signature?
I reckon the reception comittee would be worse than this.
Callsign_T21A, You sure you're not here fishing for jobs for when the pongoes get taken over by the Rocks and Marines fella. I'm sure we need some windows licking clean in our hangar :PDT_Xtremez_30:

What always gets me about this/these arguments is this, Threre are 40,000 plus in the RAF at this time, In order for the navy and the army to take the jobs that we do it would take (shock horror) 40,000 people to do. Now, are they expecting the 40,000 plus who are already in the air force to do it? with european laws nowadays i dont think they could pull it off. I didnt join the army or the navy. how many millions would it cost to pass all these jobs to the army/navy? why not leave the peeps who are doing it to do it? But then I am not a politician.

Do not worry, do not fear
Sack the flying corps
And shout with cheer
For a long time ago
when it all began
you were spawned
from the balls of real men
they built bridges
they blew them up
they played football
and won the FA cup
coz when all is said and done
with a moto of UBIQUE
the tale started long ago
with the muddy feet
Of a ROYAL ENGINEER
so put away your worries
and cast away your fear
for your coming home
to the soft boosom
of your mother corps
the ROYAL ENGINEERS
Not an insult but i couldnt help it hope you like

I doubt very much that the Crabs are anywhere near being disbanded yet. The problem callsign is that most of them dont want to (a) march everywhere dressed like a tree or (b) go to seafor up to 9 months a bloody year. As for getting rid of the RAF the only politically acceptable way I can see of doing this is by splitting it i 2
- The Royal Air Force of the British Army
- The Royal Air Force of the Royal Navy
The common bits of the Air forces would form a joint home command. Each Airforce would assimilate to its parent service in rank uniform and tradition but would have a seperate service ethos. That way you could Directly Recruit (assuming you would get recruits) into a Military Evironment where Aircraft are the Primary asset (unlike the other 2 services)
Just to let you know that despite being an ex-fishhead i'm very pro-RAF just trying to add to the debate that is all.

Tried in 1912 and didn't work (the RFC was a joint Army/Navy force in its orignal set up). What make you think it would work today??? Air should be kept a seperate force as it was set up in 1917. The reasons for the RAF being a seperate armed force are still very valid.

They way I always saw it was that the RFC was the Army set up and the RNAS was the navy equivalent. Then on the 1st April 1918 they used constituents of both parties to make the RAF. Even Trenchard had an army uniform and rank at one point.

I for one think its time to join alll forces and cut them down totally.... NOT,
Yes join them I think it would be good for the other forces to see what each other does and possibly appreciate each other.
On the other hand it would be beneficial as they could then make the cuts required to make it a modern force. We dont need a big force now as we can rely on the EU and the usa cant we????????????

Army & RAF together has worked a few times but when we're kept apart.
JHQ High Wycombe ,we worked ok but the Army didn't get how laid back we were (mainly due to it being a Command Unit & Senior Officers being ten a penny) or our contempt of mindless obedience.
CRE (Airfields) worked ok once the Army officers worked out how to deal with Airmen. That was a fun posting ;-)
No wonder they binned me, lol.
They were threatening to make us do Army BFT.
We told them, never going to happen.
