Just thought I'd start this again, as I cant remember who is around.

Obviously - TMG, the JAFAD twins and a couple of others - but I know there are more lurking!

the JAFAD twins

Jafad Twins????? Collie, I will have to disagree with you there, I have never looked anything like JAFAD666, who if he had a twin, that twin would look like the bad lad in Omen II (a boy with big 666 qualities).

Hi to IHateTCW, I've not seen another TG3 JT for years, I have heard that a few exist but thought that this must be multiple sitings of me. Have you not come off the latest board? Think I know who you are, might be wrong though. Hi to all others, where are you all? I'm currently in the Falklands but home unit is Coningsby (Typhoon).

Done AF, done TCW, done Cyprus, done Rapier, now in IT. And I went up to two Dining In nights at Byron Heights - Does that count as done AD?

But I did start as Eng Mech El...

I was on DAD 120 and then DAD 122 as I was a bit of a biff at the ACR 430 (dont say a word) but still an AD at heart (even though I ahve been assimilated without having to visit dosford) not a corn flake promotion TC (any biters?) Several years on woosh bangs in N.yorks and then the Wing gggrrreeaatt!! and now IT, all those months of radar training really comes in handy when your copying and pasting a word doc. But still playing plenty of rugby and loving it even though I am getting no younger. Get the brews on Ta!

I was origanally a DE Ltech AF spent most of my life in Ground Radios or mobile Ground Radio with the wing Did a quick AD tour to the FI then instructing AF kit. Now heading back to the Falklands on another AD kit. (Why do I always get the long courses before going OOA?) I did the first brain removal to EL and then spent 3 weeks wasting time removing any brain I had left to make me only able to count to 4. Which is useful as its the time I now have left.

Ex JAFAD checking in. DAD55 back in 1982 I did join. Never had to do the assimilation to Eng Tech EL as I was already working in a commsy environment lol. I was promoted to Chief Tech a little before the amalgamation to this odd TG4 thingummy - though I may have been better off refusing it as promotion seems unlikely with all the goings on these days, so I've resigned myself to 5 more years working in a totally non-TG4 area at Waddo - woohoo!! But again I haven't assimilated, but I'm working with TG2 guys at the mo, so it doesn't really matter to me. Currently sat in the wintery Falkands with days to do before returning to blighty - I have the T101 Q already but PMA, in their inifinite wisdom, put me in comms - ho hum. Me, the last Chief in TG4 - yeah baby, you bet.

30-08-2007, 14:41
Another TC here.. DTC 148.

Got assimilated back in 95 to one of those new fangled EL thingys and sent to TCW when they drew Portreath down, closely followed by me putting in for every transfer out going, how did i hate that place..

Originally an El Mech(T) then onto Eng Tech El when i was lucky enough to get my tapes.

Unfortunately now have been borg'd and TG4. Although i seem to have been quite jammy and didn't have to do the egg sucking course and manged to assimilate OOA. Think that was an achievement. ha ha::P:

Started many years ago ('86) as an L tech AF on DAF 60. Went and worked at GRIS at Henlow, working in the factory wiring up Watchman Cabins with comms. Then to Germany working with the Harriers. Worked at the GRSC but now working on the T93 - thankfully nothing to do with computers!!

16 months to my 22!!! Thank God!

Started of on MAD 35 in 91, then after various assim courses/ fitters course became a TG 4 cis tech, a trade that is going places, in my case straight to Basrah and the ERAS DET, only 6 weeks of this holiday left before I'm back to sunny Boulmer and a hole in the ground....I love this job!

Hi all, new to this site, I was JAFAD on DAD76 - 1984 hehe - spent all my time on Rapier(I was lucky mind did my rapier course at BAe Stevenage - beats arborfield I think!!) - nearly all of it in Germany - what a time.
However looking back the only camp I was based at that is still open was Brize Norton(was on 19sqn raf regt there).
even spent a year with the army in dortmund only for them to shut that down too.

Obviously been out of touch with things - JT doesn't exist anymore?? that was great rank.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

L Tech AF (DAF 95) only made it to Airfields on GRIS AF Flt tho'

Then Eng Tech EL thrown into the JAFAD world as a Linkie (ah easy life - dem was the days!).

Now masquerading (spell check pls!) as an ORACLE admin in the geek world of TG4 apart from a brief holiday to Byron Heights on the T101 (still the Cornish holiday and alcohol poisoning was a larf!).

Believe me the crappy bit of SQL they give you on assim is NOT enough!!!!!

12-04-2008, 03:30
put myself down as Eng Tech El although thats not strictly true. joined as an ELM. consider myself to be a JAFAD. 3 AD tours, 1 AF, 1 TC, 2 AD OOAs (currently on my 2nd) and 1 AF OOA. I suppose I'm jack of all trades master of none!

23-04-2008, 08:49

then L TECH GC or was it L FITT AF . . . or even L FITT AF(C) maybe

Could'nt resist adding to the thread....

Started MTC 35, fitters course FTC40....went well for a while and then turned into an EL working on Ground Radios. Took until 3 years ago to get back to doing TC work in very sunny Germany as a CISTech or ICT Tech or whatever the b***dy ell we're called now.

Started life as "one of those DE's" on DR10 at Locking in '76, to become a L Fitt GR in '77, L Tech GR (for 1 month), L Tech AF(r), L Tech AF, Eng Tech EL. And I never asked for any changes.... Tours at Lyneham, Belize (4 times), Cranwell, Odiham, Gib, TCW X 2, GRSC,(N.Luff), 12SU Episkopi and finally at 1001 SU Rudloe Manor.

Now out of all this career chasing rubbish in 2001, happily working in a great job (most of the time) as a Mobile Sat Com Eng.

I was L Tech TC DTC44.
TCW 11 12 81SUs and JCUFI. I left back on the last free cash and run. Believe me when you get out, the training you got takes you places and gets you good jobs.

My RAF training along with civilian pre employment course got me a Bachelor's Degree certificate when I moved to the States. Try the phone companies when you get out, I went straight to Vodafone which was more like the military than the RAF ever was!
