Today Lyneham hosted a 2 million pound British Forces AIR and LAND power demonstration for some hush hush EUDM. The camp was closed and all the daisies were given the day off. All medical and dental appointments cancelled (Some of which we had to wait for 3 months to get) The camps gates were closed and there were more civvy plods around the camp than at a footy match. The Comet on the gate was polished, lit up, and a fence put around it too. All signs around the camp were jetwashed in the first time in years and all I can say is whoooopde f**ckin doo.

The Engineers on the line were not allowed to go out and work on the aircraft as ops were watching and were straight on the phone to get the lads back in. So here we are, 12 hours later, with no engineering work done on the aircraft whatsoever since 06:00 this morning. 12 hours lost, totally amazing. And all to show a bunch of boffins a mini air and ground forces display.

And to top it all off, what do ops task us with?..... 11 programmed aicraft, with 5 of those landing tonight.....FooKing impressed or what. I have 4 tradesmen on shift and Im about to stick the second brush up my arse and do all the book reads and GMS for the remaining aicraft that the Wing Co CCS was unable to do.

Happy Days

Your the top man for the top job

As a dual trader myself, I could offer assistance by covering both heavy trades for you thus saving valuable manpower.

Bugger just realised a may have made the above comment on the wrong thread -that being the Appo promoting/bashing thread. Now I will probably endure more "Essox Lucius" (Pike for the great unwashed and non classics educated amongst you) style bites from those assembled.

Tee Hee! ;)

I feel for you :)

I spent most of today on the slot nearest our Ops building (with Harry Staish in residence), must be a good 50 metres away, lying on the pan, denims tied round my waist, music blaring from the Transit, fiddling with a couple of hyd pumps.

Last time ATC tried to get us to clear off for a VIP visit, we told them they could come down and fix the bloody jets, and we'd let OC Eng know....they shut up pretty quick. We even got a wave from the dignitary in question :D

Hello All
Being a temporary Mess dweller, I awoke after a thoroughly satisfying nightshift of musical A/C and I popped off camp at lunchtime to get a packet of tabs.. Imagine my deep deep joy when returning to the gate I found I was not welcome at our once great base. Thanks Europe...5 hours in the mucky duck...hic!
