Clearing crap for a move, I stumbled across a long forgotten collection of Commando comics. Having a laugh reading number 1022 (Raiding Party) at a cost of 8p. Anyone else enjoy the war stories in pictures that were 'Commando'?

Did read Battle Picture Weekly when I was a kid, never got into Commando, stories were almost all the same. Guy joins up, Wimps out on fist Op and gets mates killed, just avoids court marshal, Goes on second op and dies the hero saving the mission or variation of.

Had a whole stack of these Rock Ape training manuals at Akrotiri in 85.
They went down a storm in the barracks.

Yes. Some of it was quite cleverly drawn; and, to my young mind, almost exciting. . . .

Don't forget the classic "Achtung Spitfeuer!", and the different cries as each nationality got clobbered, "Umph" for the Tommies, "Gnurrgh" for the Jerries and a good old "Aieeee" for the Japs! ANZAC special on sale out here, off to get a copy, "Banzai......!"

Or Lilly St Cir.
Remember the other (smaller) adverts for the Rosicrutians, the society that wanted the Bishop of Southwark to open "Joannah Soputhwick's box of sealed writings" ?
And things from Portsmouth that came wrapped in plain brown paper?

Chaps

You can buy them in W H Smiths every month I think they are published
I think alot may be rehased stories and probably more politically correct than they used to be
They are definently in there I've seen them when I was picking up Anorack Monthly and Get a life weekly

I gave the Reggy story to a Rock at Wittering in 1989 hope he's still got it
