Is it just me or is the RAF just doing complete circles over the last 20 years. Re-inventing the wheel all the time and basically wasting all that money they keep saying they need to save.

If they stopped p!$$ing around with a system that works, and then changing it back because the new system fails it would probably save them a lot more money.

Lets just look at Lyneham, 12 months of mayhem and now its all going back to the way it was. In the process, wasting millions of pounds of tax payers money......great innit!

But if it was all left as it was, how would the new middle management show their betters how clever they are by bolloxing it all up with 'new initiatives'

At least the one bonus is, after you have had a fork wit in to balls it up, the next person in post can actually shine by putting the train set back together again so it works properly.

And I always thought RAF life was based on a pyramid.
Or was that briefing just another dream? :D

rest have risen above me

The inverted pyramid. due to cuts each Officer has only 0.7 airmen to use where as they used to have three at least. Apparently its worse at Air Officer Level where they only have 0.25 Group Captains each although they do have 17 Wing Commanders each. Have you seen how many Wing Co's they make each year.... Where are they all?... (A bit off thread, but they are the wheel re-inventors) :(

Its one of the biggest frustration's you get. A new shiny PO/FO gets posted in and decides the section or flight needs his (or her, lets not be sexist) expertise in changing everything to make it better! Having to sit and explain for the umpteenth time (how long is an umpteenth, is it the same as a donkeys year?) that "it won't work sir/ma'am because ..............." (insert reson here). This thread is similar to the "senior officers why won't they listen" thread. Unfortunatley because of the commisioned career path most of the little darlings don't spend much more than 2 years with you. This can be a double edged sword as you have just trained (moulded?) one of them and have to start again, it's like being a nursery school teacher!
