For those that the Cpl-Sgt (CIS tech) promotion board applies to, (the one that sat a few months ago), PMA are now pulling names off the list. Good luck to those that made it.
On the subject of boards, the advertised promotion board for Sgt-FS scheduled for early next year WILL go ahead. Early rumour control of a promotion drought were ill founded. Gen straight from TS

The Sgt - FS board was always going to go ahead, problem is there's only likely to be 3 or 4 people coming off it.
13 is the figure they are working on. Not brilliant but hey...

Don't know how many off the Cpl-Sgt board; last 'rumour' was approx 10-15.
The 13 I refer to, is what is expected to be needed off the Sgt-FS board

One of the lads here rang the desk yesterday to find out if he was being released (he came ninth) they said no as they were only releasing 3 cis tech cpl to sgt, but seven IM's just what you want to hear.

Hmmm. I really thought they would have taken this opportunity to bring some parity to the situation, particularly as a tech is linked to 100% of TG4 posts and an IM is linked to 80%.
Is this another opportunity gone begging?

Emmm.....Is this true, can you work in a Commcen.......Think not! What about DATO, no didnt think so. Perhaps you could do flight watch......wrong again. So not 100% at all, in fact only a small percentage of IM posts. If you are not happy, re-muster, time to make a choice, either be a tech for ever and hope for promotion or move over to IM and stand better chance of getting promoted! I know its not fair, but at the end of the day its the millitary and service needs come first, so we can complain all we like but highly unlikley we will make any difference.

I don't fully agree with you mate there, although i'm ex TG11, there are a few TG3's scattered in DATO's and one or two in charge of Commcens, we are slightly off topic hear, but i'd have to say (as much as it hurts) they are going to be slightly more on the 100% of our trade. I don't want to work on one of those big stinky radars, good luck to them. Merry Crimbo

I am sure most of us can do those jobs, but I am not even going there.
I was told the main reason for the no promotion was no juniors to fill the gaps.
But looking at the figures in the latest PMA stuff SAC (cistechs) are hugely overmanned. Cpls are 110% manned. So this should not effect our promotion.
compared to the SAC IMs @ 86% manned ?
Seems like the way forward is to promote all the overbourne CIS TECHS into IM SGT slots and joint role them until you get enough people in, then you can show us how difficult it is to send an order to BT Mr DATO or use a radio Mr Flight watch?

Sorry mate, but you are mistaken. As others have said, there are already techs in numerous posts that were traditionally TG11. Additionally, the figure I used is taken from what TS work on.

I'm originally TG3 - now doing IM SNCO role (helpdesk, crypto..etc) as well as looking after the more tech aspects of the section. Sits ok with me. We're not all massive whingers :PDT_Xtremez_31:

It gives all of the details for past and future promotion boards for all ground trades. It also includes some of the past Chairman reports from the promotion boards so that people can see why some of the F6000 are failing to get them promoted.
As you can probably guess i'm TG3 - sorry TG4! and I'm waiting for the Sgt-FS board, which according to the website is sitting on 11-14 Feb 08 with a pre-board quoter of 15, which like everything else means probably 1 if we are lucky!

Then you shouldn't really be looking at getting your tapes for 5 years anyway.
Dont think there are any CPL CIS TECH slots for the foreseable future. Dont think they are even thinking about having anyone back for FT for you lot either are they?

I think it will be back to the 6 yrs from passout to sniff of promotion and then you will have to be good.
Hope you get on okay with the "Look after your ID on the Net lesson" I assume you have yet to do that?
I do hope 761 is not your last three?

Promotion after 4 years!! This has happened in the last few years, however, this is now one of the main causes of the problems we now face. There are too many people in my opinion that have been promoted far too quickly, through no fault of there own, but due to the TG4 sponsor turning every post he could into a TG4 Cpl slot and also down to the fact of getting rid of the J/T rank.
I have the opinion that in 99 percent of cases most juniors are not ready for promotion unitl completing 6 years out of training and had experience of at least two postings. There are the odd one or two that you see come through the door that you would like to see promoted in the least amount of time.
It suprises me that Tosford are still feeding you crap that you may still get your tapes in 4 years, then when you hit the real world and find out different you then become disgruntled and cheated that you have maybe joined the wrong trade. The way things stand at the moment then the 4 year likely hood of promotion would seem very doubtful, although like anything, it can change by the day.

Is it just me, or do most other people agree that worrying during your Trade Training about how soon you'll be made a JNCO, is a bit bizarre?
Aspirations are great, but lets bear in mind that there's a great big portion of 'F' Factor to be chewed on before you're gonna be worthy of your bananas...

Cashew, i agree with you regarding the 6 year point and that too many were moved up in JNCO slots too soon, but i just beleave that it was the way the new trade is structured, for example no longer is there the commcen structure/fligh****ch etc where there would be a ****e load of sac's on shift and one or two cpl's in the commcen, now that ratio has gone and the ratio has gone from say 1/10 to more 6/10, perhaps and exageration but i'm not sure it is the sponsors fault, hey mate, a few years ago you would have been peanut not cashew, be greatful for small mercy's:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Even with the shift in SAC-Cpl ration and no commcen structure there have still been a lot of people getting their tapes after 3yrs over people who have been in a lot longer. I know that the people who have been in longer have usually been in longer for a reason (not been a good boy myself, which is why im still waiting), but there are some people who just refuse to kiss ass and lick balls to get promoted, getting passed over.

That is true mate, but the same can be said every where, god love the kiss ass's but i beleave what comes around goes around and they always get caught out for what they are.

I think that means in basic terms that 7 IM's have been authorised for release, however due to the move at ACOS (Air) they have been unable to send the signals out to individuals yet! Can anyone out there confirm if they have received an offer of promotion yet? and does anyone know the new contact numbers as I have tried the numbers on the ACOS website but no reply on any of them!
What I dont understand is why, they have sat on them for so long! anyone any ideas

I don't believe that for one minute, if they said that about promotion why is it, that they are taking so long in releasing anyone......!!!!!! They told one of my mates they had the signal ready for drafting and release on Monday/Tues last week..But as of yet he has heard Jack S$$t

It would appear that the nail has been well and truly placed in the coffin for Cpl-Sgt CIS Tech promotions off the last board. Decembers PMA bulletin contains Nil in all fields for promotion
DEC's was around before Xmas. There have been a lot of meetings since then. I think they need to sort their life out. Just say no promotions and sort it all out ready for the next board! There are too many unknowns.
Will we get DII?
What do ATLAS want?
What new sensors are on the way?
Will they draw down OOAs and Overseas?
If they miss this one completely and someone takes the blame they will lose a lot of experience,
but if they mess it up by chucking single figures around now and in the next one, they will lose a whole generation.
Its all hanging by a thread...
I have just heard that the first 7 of the list (IM side of the house) have been released and have received offers, No1 on the list I know your situation at present so no pleating by you, I had enough of that on the phone this morning! lol
Was just wondering where the offers are sending you, not all TCW I bet?

I now know that out of the 7 offers made to CIS IM, I repeat CIS IM, ACOS manning seemed to have made two offers to CIS IM's for two CIS Tech slots, which has now resulted in the offers being retracted and the two guys left hanging and not know what the hell is going on!

What is going on? Why would (CIS TECHS overmanned apparently) ACOS manning offer them two CIS Tech slots initially anyway? Are these slots being reserved for CIS Tech promotion now from Cpl - Sgt? These are rhetorical questions and are not a dig at anyone including ACOS manning!!! The TG4 roadshow goes on. PD TC suggested in another thread suggested that all TG4 movements should be curtailed until a proper review can be taken. I 110% agree with him. It is unfair to the CIS IMs in this case to be hanging on a thread and the CIS Techs hoping for their promotions this year.
CIS IMs should not even be considered for Tech slots. The plot thickens!!!

Whilst visiting PJHQ last week, I saw an email floating around with some promotion numbers on it. IIRC Sgt to FS was 39 required, but I cannot remember the rest. Does anyone have the breakdown by rank?
