I have just been contacted with regards to the subject title by one of our community - Frustrated. Please see his email below.

I am the instigator and author of a (currently in draft form) paper identifying the need for a NATIONAL DEFENCE ASSOCIATION - whose purpose, on behalf of all three of the armed forces, is to lobby the public, the press and politicians, on the need for adequate, appropriate and (most importantly) fully resourced (funded!) Armed Forces so that the Nation, its people and their vital interests at home and worldwide are defended effectively.
We are now in our 'consultation phase' to obtain the views of everyone, military and civilian, on the need (or not) for an NDA - and inviting their views on this DRAFT paper, where, at the moment, everything - from its aim down to fine detail - is open for criticism, suggestion, amendment or even deletion. We seek, particularly, RAF opinion - hence this approach to you.
We have posted this paper in the two 'arrse' sites and in unofficial military magazines - including the Naval Review.

Anyone can contact me direct on this subject at: ndahqATbtinternet.com

How, please, can I post this whole paper (or can you on my behalf) - can I/shall I e-mail it direct to you?

Thank you in anticipation....

John (aka 'Frustrated')(Cdr, RN) Interim CE of the (embryo) NDA

Now I personally intend to give John my full backing on this as I have said that the UK Forces have needed something like this for years.

Your opinions, thoughts etc please......................

They had a meeting a couple of weeks ago in Wiltshire about forming this Association. The top brass are not happy but if it helps us then that is good.
The Australians have it and it seems to work:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Saturday's Daily Telegraph had an article in it in which Col Tim Collins referred to the position Servicemen find themselves in today with no one looking after their interests in a very political world. He was supportive of the formation of the British Armed Forces Federation who, he believes, would provide support to those troops who find themselves in court over charges just to assuage the politicos.

Things like this sound good in theory, but in practice it's just another group run by serving or retired officers to suit their own agendas. Plenty of us erks will offer our support and then watch aghast as our new union lobbys the MoD for a hike in flying pay or some other crap we don't care about.

And if Colonel Collins does have any sway in the new union it is very disappointing. I'm sure he was the idiot who told the Guardian that the RAF should be disbanded as it was the only unnecessary force. This man certainly has a different agenda to most us.
