I know of two leckies that have turned down the multi skilling but both were in their last couple of years and couldn't be ar$ed with it.
Bit short sighted perhaps as it would have meant better chance of getting a job when they left?!

Am i right ?? :PDT_Xtremez_32:

I went to the Chief Clerk and said I'm not interested and he said you'll have to wait until you are nominated for one before you can turn it down. Now where is the sense in that? I was trying to prevent them wasting their time and my time.
I was recently talking to a colleague about this. It really is another scam for twin-hating and not true multi-trading otherwise we would have aligned to EASA. The reckoning for putting the Riggers/ Sooties and Elect/Fairies together is because "they-the all-(un)-knowing” at the top of the heap are 5h!t scared of creating mirrored B1/B2 trades (i.e. without licence & type) because we will all leave!
1. That will hold no audience with the airlines unless you want to go in unlicensed.
2. I hear a lot of people saying that they do not want to work with aircraft.
3. I don’t think that "they-the all-(un)-knowing” are aware of how many of the JR/SNCO cadre have got themselves academically aligned to their experience.
Do you want to work in the aviation industry? (Airline maintenance or aircraft manufacture – this country or oversees)
My guess is that "they-the all-(un)-knowing” would be just as safe by putting us through true B1 style training because the ground troops are too hacked off to care e.g. over subscription for redundancies (including people trying to sneak under the wire) or those who are going to early financial brake points (12 / 22) and not going full term.

to be honest, If the RAF did the licences, and put a retainer on it so you HAD to do X amount of years, I'd do it! how many people here wouldn't?? Having that tick in the box is a massive step into quite a few peoples plans for after life in a blue suit. Admittedly not everyones, but it could be an optional course?????
As a jelly tot I postponed my multi skilling twice, the third time of asking was when my OASC was due, my chief insisted that I went to multiskilling.....After speaking to the adj I realised that in the AP the line was ....officially turning the training down meant that I couldn't be promoted into a job that required a multi skilled bod, I could however by promoted into one that didnt. Needless to say the SengO bless him told the chief to wind his neck in, I went to OASC and am now an EngO......

I know of quite a few who have refused the 'other' multi-skilling course, including most of a section at a particular unit.
