Perhaps this (http://www.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/071011094058.shtml) explains why Alonso has been particularly critical of Ron Dennis in the press this week and last.

If he can secure an early release from McLaren he will go back to Renault. If thats the case I reckon Fisi will be booted from his race seat to make way for Heikki partnering Alonso. Fisi was only being kept in the race seat for his experience.

It thens begs the question who will take the McLaren seat? Jensen has already firmly said he will stay at Honda, after all the uproar about that particular contract a wise move!
Nico Rosberg was always linked to the drive and now Sebastian Vettel is also being mentioned.
I love the silly season, we havent even had any confirmation of ProDrive for next year let alone who will drive for them.

( Lets not turn this into an Alonso bashing thread please. I'll keep my comments about Hamilton to myself OK? :PDT_Xtremez_28: )

FA has shot his bolt at Mclaren. There is no way I can see him driving for them in 2008 after he shot them down in Hungary.

Briatore will get back his prodigcal son.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

It will be interesting to see who will be test driving next year for Mclaren...

If I was Button and was asked to drive a Mclaren.. Are Honda going to be any good next year???

Honda in theory should be good next year. After a few races into this season when they admitted that this car was going to be a pig all year they started work on next years car. With a headstart like that and the knowledge of what not to do I reckon they will do well.
Buttons problem is the wrangling that went on to release him from his Williams contract so he could stay at Honda. Rumour has it that he paid for it from his own pocket as well. If he turned around now and went to McLaren he'd look a right turncoat!

After what has happened this year I wouldnt think Pedro Dela Rosa will be still testing for McLaren next year!
